Kim Johnston

Kim Johnston (Sun Woman) is from Sagkeeng First Nation in Manitoba. Her People speak the Saulteaux language. Kim is the eldest daughter of a proud and resilient residential school survivor and an active member of her community. She grounds herself by practicing ceremony that honours and respects her People and all of creation.
Kim’s career began in media monitoring, keeping track of news coverage for print, television and radio as a transcriptionist and later moved to office management.
Since joining APTN in 2004 as program inventory clerk, Kim has stepped into the roles of traffic coordinator and senior traffic coordinator through positive mentorship and professional development initiatives. In 2021, she was appointed manager of scheduling. Throughout Kim’s career at APTN, she has been an instrumental leader and support to her team members. There is no place she would rather be.
