Winnipeg, Manitoba –Aboriginal Peoples Television Network (APTN) has been acknowledged as Manitoba’s Top Employers for the 9th consecutive year, as announced this morning on Eluta.ca.

The network joins 24 other employers in the province who pride themselves in offering forward-thinking programs and exceptional workplaces. Now in its 12th year, Manitoba’s Top Employers is an annual competition organized by the editors of Canada’s Top 100 Employers – for which APTN also received top honours earlier this month. Employers are evaluated on the same criteria in both competitions: physical workplace; work atmosphere and social; health, financial and family benefits; vacation and time off; employee communications; performance management; training and skills development; and community involvement.

Here are some of the areas in which the first Aboriginal television network in the world and Canada’s only independent Aboriginal network rises above the average:

  • Ongoing employee development: Subsidies for tuition and professional accreditation, career planning services, formal mentoring and in-house training programs.
  • Commitment to families: Parental leave top-up for new moms and dads (including adoptive parents) and opportunity to extend leave into an unpaid leave of absence.
  • It is the first national Aboriginal broadcaster in the world, with programming by, for and about Aboriginal Peoples– the organization endeavours to create a national radio network and is currently reviewing plans to develop a sister station in the United States to convey stories of Native Americans to an American audience

This award indicates a strong company culture at APTN, cultivating a positive and fulfilling work environment, fostering creativity and growth – with its team on the forefront. To see which opportunities are currently available, please visit aptn.ca/careers
