Lorne Fagnan is a proud member of Minegoziibe Anishinabe (Pine Creek First Nation) and an accomplished partner in the Saskatoon office of McKercher LLP, where he works with the firm’s Indigenous practice group. With a deep passion for Indigenous governance and advocacy, Lorne combines his legal expertise with his background in broadcast and communications to champion the development of media that reflects and celebrates the rich histories and vibrant cultures of Indigenous Peoples across Canada. 

Lorne’s legal career is rooted in advancing the interests of Indigenous communities. He specializes in Indigenous governance, economic development and policy, advising First Nations on land management, corporate partnerships, project development and other critical issues. His practice spans multiple sectors, with a focus on corporate/commercial, employment, estates and real estate law. Lorne is a member of both the Saskatchewan and Manitoba Bar, bringing a wealth of experience and regional insight to his work. 

Deeply connected to his heritage, raised in the Métis community of Mafeking, Manitoba, Lorne draws inspiration from his family’s roots – his father’s Anishinaabe heritage and his mother’s Métis background. Their dedication to community service and respect for tradition have shaped Lorne’s strong cultural identity and work ethic. 

As a member of APTN’s Board of Directors, Lorne brings his expertise and passion to advancing the network’s mission of sharing Indigenous stories and perspectives with audiences across the country.
