This spring, APTN is delighted to share an exciting new lineup of programming with Canadian audiences. Our spring lineup is filled with diverse and original content in English, French and a variety of Indigenous languages. Through authentic programming, APTN is proud to continue amplifying the Indigenous stories and voices that spark meaningful conversations in our communities. 

Dr. Savannah: Wild Rose Vet showcases Métis culture, Merchants of the Wild III shines a light on traditional Syilx teachings and Bull’s Eye tests First Nations youth on their cultural knowledge. The themes that course through our spring programming include hope, healing and honesty — all essential on the path towards reconciliation. This is just a snippet of what’s to come this spring on APTN and APTN lumi!

Premier Contact is a French-language mini docuseries based on the English series First Contact. Premier Contact follows six Quebeckers, all of whom admit to having prejudices against Indigenous Peoples, as they embark on an 18-day journey of discovery and reflection. Throughout the experience, they are challenged to confront their preconceived notions and learn about the Indigenous Peoples and communities of Quebec.  

Dr. Savannah: Wild Rose Vet follows Dr. Savannah Howse-Smith as she travels to neighbouring communities to treat animals while learning about her newly-discovered Métis heritage. Each day presents a host of new challenges at the Rocky Rapids Veterinary Service in Drayton Valley, Alta. From wildlife rescues to performing a C-section on a cow, no job is too big or too small for Dr. Savannah. Through poignant stories about the connection between humans and their furry companions, the docuseries shines a positive light on rural veterinary practice and Métis culture. 

Merchants of the Wild III follows six Indigenous explorers as they spend 25 days in the mountains of Syilx territory relying solely on each other and traditional teachings to survive. In this thrilling season, the group braves ice-cold rivers, deadly currents, devastating storms and more to reconnect with their lands and culture. 

Back to Roots follows home cook Perry Omeasoo on his personal journey towards better health as he demonstrates modified versions of traditional Indigenous games and skill training. Along the way, he showcases his culinary skills and whips up tasty dishes inspired by the origins of these traditional Indigenous games. The adventurous series covers everything from Cheyenne kickball to Ulladulla spear-throwing and from Mongolian dumplings to Cree venison stew.  

Bull’s Eye is a dynamic and exciting game show that allows First Nations youth to test their cultural knowledge in order to share it with everyone. With the help of popular artists, each team must take on several challenges to win. From food, to sports, to art and literature, each week covers a puzzling new topic.
