That was the last count of murdered and missing Aboriginal women by the Sisters in Spirit initiative before the government pulled its funding from the Native Women’s Association of Canada.
Sisters in Spirit provided support for families and a database monitoring the high number of missing and murdered Aboriginal women and girls in Canada.
But as APTN National News reporter Nigel Newlove tells us, a new grassroots group is trying to pick up where the program ended.
