Fun Flick Factoids

At the end of the movie, David Grant (Kurt Russell) asks Jean (Halle Berry) if she likes hockey, and Jean replies, “Hockey? No, I only like baseball.” At the time, Halle Berry was married to then-Atlanta Braves outfielder David Justice. Originally Halle Berry refused the part in this movie, but said yes when she was offered $1 million for the job. This was her first $1 million payment for a film.

According to John Leguizamo in his autobiography, Steven Seagal physically attacked him during filming in an effort to scare the cast and crew. And his frequent improvisations angered Kurt Russell so much that they got into a shoving match. Leguizamo’s improvised line “Hope the smell doesn’t give us away.” started the fight.

Executive Decision | Friday Night Flick

I am so excited to have the honour of being APTN’s Friday Night Flick host! I get to watch all these great movies like this week’s Executive Decision. It’s definitely a classic 90’s action film. We have Kurt Russell, Steven Seagal, Halle Berry, John Leguizamo and Oliver Platt. These were big name actors in their day, and are still working today!

Now, watching this movie I have to obey the tagline; “Fasten your seatbelts” because honestly, I was about to fall off the edge of my seat several times. I can’t believe the intense moments that don’t stop through the entire movie. There are so many twists and turns!

Before I keep going on and on, I should tell you a bit about what happens.
Basically, the U.S. has a terrorist leader in custody and his followers decide to hijack a Boeing 747 from Athens, Greece to the USA and demand his release. Intelligence expert David Grant played by Kurt Russell suspects another reason and convinces the military that the plane should not be allowed to enter U.S. airspace. So, the Special Forces team led by Lieutenant Colonel Austin Travis, aka Steven Seagal, attempts to board the plane with a military jet, which they do.  But, that’s where one of the biggest surprises of the movie happens! After that, things get “just a little hectic”.

Speaking of hectic, have I told you about my “dog”, Kernel. First he pretty much hijacks my car. I still really want to know how he got in there. Since I’m kind of stuck with him, well, I’m making the best of it… I guess.

Let me know what you think of the movie. Was it as intense for you as it was for me? If you were in Halle Berry’s shoes, could you pull it off?

Stay tuned, next Friday, March 18, we will be watching Bandits starring Bruce Willis, Billy Bob Thornton and Cate Blanchett during MEGA MOVIE MANIA!!!

I look forward to reading your comments and questions. Thanks for watching with us!
