The film was originally meant to be an adaptation of Elmore Leonard’s novel “Bandits”, to which Bruce Willis owns the film rights, but the producers felt it was too weak and brought in writer Harley Peyton to write a new script from scratch.

When Terry wakes up saying “Beavers and Ducks”, it’s a reference to two arch-rival Oregon college football teams, the Oregon State University Beavers and the University of Oregon Ducks.

The little girl who belches during the dinner scene is Bruce Willis’ daughter, Scout LaRue Willis… and according to him, that belch was not enhanced. The other girl is another one of Willis’ daughters, Tallulah Belle Willis.

Val Kilmer was originally considered for the part of Joe, and Bruce Willis was originally going to play the part of Terry, but due to scheduling conflicts, Kilmer backed out, and Willis took over the part of Joe.
Billy Bob Thornton has a phobia of antique furniture in real life, and the producers wrote it in as part of his character.

So the Kernel kept muttering something about his “crime spree days” that may or may not have included stealing food from other dogs and being “on the lam”… and I’m thinking who is this strange little dog that followed me home? Should I be checking the FBI’s most wanted list?

This all came up when we were talking about this week’s movie; Bandits. Have you seen it?

It’s about these two bank robbers who become known as the Sleepover Bandits when they invade a bank manager’s home in order to get his help in robbing his bank. It is a bit of a twisted tale because these two guys are so funny and likeable that you kind of want them to get away with it.

They are played by the always loveable Bruce Willis and the crazy character actor Billy Bob Thornton. These guys are both two of my favorites. Have you see Pushing Tin? That’s another Billy Bob movie that you have to check out.

Also in this movie is the beautiful and graceful Cate Blanchett. I got a kick out of seeing her a little mixed up and messed up. She plays a lonely housewife who accidently joins the robbers and can’t decide which of the guys she likes better.

It is a fun movie with some interesting twists… speaking of twisted (again) here comes Kernel needing me to tie his shoes for him. He says he wants to take me for a walk. I just shake my head.
