Evelyn: No harm ever came from opening a chest
Rick: Yeah, right, and no harm ever came from reading a book. You remember how that one went?

Tomorrow!!

Hey! I am so glad you could visit the Friday Night Flick blog!

Well, what can I say? It’s been quite the year! I can’t believe Kernel and I are in our second season together for FNF. Let me tell you, it hasn’t been the easiest time I’ve ever had but Kernel definitely puts a little more excitement and adventure in my life.

That being said, I’m still a single lady who just keeps getting stood up! I expect my date to show to pick me up but for some reason they never do! So I guess it’s nice to have some kind of male companionship in my life and it’s never a dull moment with Kernel. I also found another little kitty companion… but I think she ran away. That made me sad…

I also find myself consoling Kernel every single time I try to bring him for walks. He tries to pretend he is so tough but he scares easily. This one time I brought him to the dog park and he became somewhat traumatized by the whole experience. He claims the dogs were naked and he doesn’t say “hello” they way they do… Frankly, I don’t know what kind of dogs wear clothes!

Anyway, just wanted to tell you how excited I am to be here once again for another season of movies with you! I hope you enjoy the movies as much as we do!

Join us tomorrow for Runaway Jury, starring John Cusack, Gene Hackman, Dustin Hoffman and Rachel Weisz!

I look forward to hearing from you too!

Is Hard Ball like get the ball?

You know, this week’s movie makes me want to coach a team. I haven’t ever really played a team sport but I am a very good see-the-ball-get-the-ball player. But really I can coach a team, call me if you have one for me. I’ve been practicing batting and throwing and I’m getting very good. Well, better. If you got money to pay me, I’m there. I could use a few extra bucks. Chantelle is threatening to make me pay for the broken window, the lamp and the washing machine repair. Who knew you shouldn’t wash a baseball bat in the washing machine. Hey maybe the dishwasher! I’ll try that.

Gotta go. See you Friday.

Hard Ball

I am looking forward to watching “Hard Ball” on Friday, starring Keanu Reeves. I really, truly am! But, I cannot wait for it to be over at the same time.

Kernel has decided he wants to “brush up” on his “skills” since he’s convinced he can pay off debts by coaching a little league team, like our main character. Now, I use those terms very, very loosely. Like when he was trying to do cardio by jumping on my bed while practicing his batting swing. Well, it turns out that (believe it or not) dogs don’t have very good grip and I’m out a bedroom window. I’ve got a nice sheet of plastic held on with duct tape, courtesy of Kernel too, as if I wouldn’t notice. Let’s just say he has a few things he has to work to pay off now though and it’s not going to be paid off by coaching ANY team.

I’ll see you this Friday when we watch “Hard Ball” with you on the APTN Friday Night Flick! Hopefully Kernel will get distracted by something else by then…

Not exactly The Sweetest Thing

Some may think that this movie looks quite “sweet” indeed. It stars Cameron Diaz, Christina Applegate and Selma Blair who are three (usually) sweet women. Well friends, you’re in for a surprise with this one!
This movie may seem like a cutsie-romantic comedy at first glance but it doesn’t take long for someone to figure out that they’re in for some raunchy, over-the-top, zany adventures.

The story follows three successful, youthful, and a little wacky twenty-somethings Christina, Courtney and Jane on their everlasting search for romance. The director and writer of the movie, Nancy Pimental was actually a writer for the animated series “South Park” up until 2002, which is known for it’s over-the-top humour. She has said that the movie is loosely based on her and her friend’s adventures.

I thought the girls’ attitudes and behaviour were fairly accurate to a lot of women this day and age, but Kernel was none too impressed. After a wild night at the night club to cheer up the recently heartbroken Jane (Blair), the ladies meet up and hilarity ensues. Kernel didn’t think the “Penis Song” or the “mystery” stain was very funny though.

But if you think this is just a chick flick, there are a lot of scenes guys would find pretty funny and well, pretty sexy. Once again our Cameron Diaz is dancing up a storm in her panties, but with Christina Applegate joining in.
By the way, you’ll never listen to Aerosmith’s “Never Gonna Miss a Thing” the same again after this one.
Hope you enjoy “The Sweetest Thing” on this week’s Friday Night Flick! Let me know what YOU thought of the movie.

Be sure to join us next week for “Hard Ball” starring APTN favourite, Keanu Reeves.

Thanks again!

Chantelle
