How does a young, professional, ultra-organized, friendly woman like Chantelle end up with such a loud, impulsive, cantankerous canine like Kernel? It depends on who you ask.

If you ask Kernel, they met when Chantelle dropped by the animal shelter he was “vacationing” at. He realized that she needed someone to help her break out of her shell, teach her how to enjoy life, or at least someone to watch movies with every Friday night. So Kernel decided to do Chantelle a favour and move in as her roommate/life coach.

If you ask Chantelle, it’s a home invasion that just won’t end. She went to that animal shelter looking for a cute kitten or an adorable puppy, a furry friend to welcome her home after a long day at work – not an opinionated, scheming dog with a sketchy past and no concept of how the owner/pet relationship works.

If you ask him, she gave him a lift back to her apartment. If you ask her, he broke into her car and by the time she realized he was there, the shelter was closed and she had no choice but to take Kernel in overnight, which stretched into a weekend, then a week, then… you get the picture.

They may not always see eye to eye on things and they certainly don’t have the same grooming habits but the one thing they can agree on is: the Friday Night Flick on APTN is worth staying home to watch.
