Leona lives with Gail on Blackstone First Nation and maintains a strong presence as the school’s counselor. She is also dedicated to improving the community by continuing to facilitate group counseling sessions at the band hall.
About Carmen Moore
Carmen has had an extensive career in film and television for close to 20 years.
With a start in local theatre in Vancouver she quickly gained recognition with a couple of Jesse nominations. Auditions for film started a slew of guest starring and recurring roles on many popular TV series as well as prominent roles on a few feature films. From 2004-2005 Carmen played one of the leads, Simone, in Vancouver’s Godiva’s and was nominated for a Leo (BC Film/Television Awards) for her performance as the mysterious, sexy bartender. After Godiva’s Carmen worked on the Canadian Independent Feature Film Unnatural & Accidental where she was honored with the Women in Film & Video Artistic Merit Award for her portrayal of Rebecca.
Unnatural & Accidental also received honorable mention for best Canadian Film in the 2006 Vancouver International Film Festival, and was nominated for Best Feature in the 2007 Leo Awards.
Carmen played Fidelia Fazekas on SyFy’s Caprica, and Sr. Lt. Nina Leotie in the pilot episode of Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome. She plays the leading role of Leona Stoney in APTN’s Blackstone, for which she won the 2011 Leo award and was nominated for a Gemini award.
Carmen is a proud mother, and divides her time between Vancouver and Los Angeles.
