Suspended Senator Patrick Brazeau is scheduled to referee a match between The Honky Tonk Man and Sexy Eddy during a wrestling charity event in Smith Falls, Ont., next month.

Brazeau, an Algonquin appointed to the Senate by Prime Minister Stephen Harper, is also facing sexual assault charges.

He is currently working as a day manager at a strip bar in a trendy part of downtown Ottawa.

Brazeau’s infamy made him an attractive character for Great North Wrestling (GNW) which is staging the charity event in Smith Falls on May 10. GNW promoter Devon Nicholson said Brazeau seems to exude a natural “bad guy” character.

“I have no doubt he may be the most hated person you’d ever know,” said Nicholson in an interview with APTN National News.

Nicholson said he heard about Brazeau’s interest in pro wrestling from a mutual friend who is also involved in the industry. Nicholson wouldn’t reveal who the friend was, but said he’s also performing at the Smith Falls event.

The event is being held to raise money for the Gerry Lowe Memorial Foundation to build the “The Rink of Dreams” in Smith Falls.

Nicholson said he was told that Brazeau is interested in becoming a pro wrestler, but he may not have the physical tools to pull it off.

“I don’t know if he has the size, the mass required to do well in the business,” said Nicholson. “He’d make a good professional wrestling manager, he seems to be good at talking.”

Brazeau also has some experience when it comes to exchanging blows for philanthropy. In 2012 Brazeau lost to Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau in a charity boxing match.

Brazeau claimed in an interview with Nicholson, aka Hannibal, that he took a dive in that boxing match.

“The odds were 3 to 1 in my favour and so I was a betting man, I made a lot of money off that,” said Brazeau, whose forehead was marked by scars and one Band-Aid in the interview posted on YouTube.

During the interview Brazeau also said he planned to return to the Senate. He was suspended last fall over his living allowance claims. His suspension ends after the next federal election in 2015.

Nicholson said he’s been in contact with Brazeau for about a month hashing out his appearance.

“I just think it was a good opportunity for both of us,” said Nicholson. “It might bring some more attention to the event and good for him to live out something he’s been wanting to do since he was young.”

Brazeau, whose nickname for the event is “Brass Knuckles,” could not be reached for comment.

His political career came crashing down last February after Gatineau police arrived at his rented townhouse following two 911 calls from a woman. Brazeau was found by police locked in a bedroom. He is currently facing assault and sexual assault charges stemming from that incident with his former live in partner. His next court day is schedule for Friday.

According to court documents, Brazeau choked and spat on the woman, grabbed her breasts and pushed her down the stairs. The documents also reveal that he pulled her pants down hard enough to snap a button and break a zipper.

The allegations have not been tested in court.

The RCMP also recently charged Brazeau with fraud and breach of trust as a result of an investigation into his Senate expense and living allowance claims.
